How long is the flight from Bergen To Ålesund?
The flight time is just under an hour, around 50 minutes. You’ll want to give yourself time at the airport though as Bergen is one of the larger cities in Norway. If you are flying nonstop, Widerøe tends to have strict baggage rules as the planes are smaller.

Bergen to Ålesund by Bus – most affordable
A fantastic way to see the western part of Norway, the bus ride is nine hours long.

Vy Bus
Vy Bus is currently the only company offering nonstop service between the two cities, leaving Bergen at 8 AM every day. Before booking this option, please be aware that the bus makes over 100 stops. There is an option to select seats and pay extra for recliners if you need the extra space.
Bergen to Ålesund by Ferry – best views
Hurtigruten
Hurtigruten is the only ferry company with overnight routes to each of the coastal cities in Western Norway. The ferry ride from Bergen to Ålesund takes almost 14 hours as it stops at Floro, Måløy and Torvik before reaching Ålesund.

In my opinion, this is the best way to see the fjords if you are short on time for your trip and don’t want to drive.
Shan’s Tip: You can save some money by booking the overnight ticket between $120-$200 that doesn’t include a cabin. Don’t forget the sun doesn’t set during the summer months, you can channel your inner night owl and enjoy the views of the fjords!
The bus ride is the second longest option, yet most affordable. I’d recommend the ferry if you don’t mind a long boat ride as the views are next level!
Final Thoughts
Renting a car in Norway is the ideal mode of transportation for many, however I know first hand that’s not always an option as it’s very expensive. There are three possible ways to get from Bergen to Ålesund without breaking the budget.
