10 Best things to do in Whitefish in the Summer

I spent a month in the summer in Northwest Montana exploring all there is to do in the area including Whitefish. Of course, most people visit this part of Montana to explore Glacier National Park.

While I love the National Park, there are plenty of other things to see and do in Whitefish, Montana. Here is a list of my top recommendations 🙂:

1. Visit the Whitefish Farmers Market

The Farmers Market runs from the end of May to the end of September every year at the Depot Park in downtown Whitefish. In addition to hosting local vendors each week, there is always a great variety of food trucks and live music. The fresh produce displays are INSANE!

2. Take a Pilates class at Delia Pilates

Delia Pilates studio  is the perfect place for a killer workout in a beautiful welcoming space downtown. The classes are smaller and fill up fast so I’d recommend booking a class and/or joining a waitlist to guarantee a spot.

3. Make custom artwork at Stumptown Art Studio

Stumptown Art Studio will be in business for 30 years in 2025 and for good reason! In addition to their wide variety of classes you can also walk-in to make an art piece. Don’t worry, they offer shipping for ceramic items that take a week to be glazed and finished.

4. Enjoy a Brews Cruise

Spend a few hours on a Brews Cruise where you will get to try up to 3 locally brewed beers. They also offer cruises that include whitewater rafting in addition to the brewery tours. Book your tour here!

5. Take a hike in Whitefish

Whitefish is home to almost 50 miles of multi-use trails all year long. Some of the trails allow you to take your dog off-leash, while others require leashes at all times. Check out their website for more information on the different trails.

6. Play a Round of Golf

The Whitefish Golf Club is open to the public, however discounted rates are available to members. Tee times can be booked up to two days in advance. There is an additional fee if you book further out than two days.

7. Grab Breakfast at Fleur Bakeshop

I love this bakeshop so much! Their menu changes almost daily with new and exciting items AND the majority of their ingredients are locally sourced.

8. Shop til you drop!

9. Treat yourself to a spa service

✔️ The Spa at Whitefish Lake: A perfect getaway with a wide variety of services including access to the Lodge’s outdoor pool.

✔️ Vibe Wellness Lounge: I booked a Reiki session with Jenifer and it was incredible! They’re located in the heart of town and easy to get to.

✔️  Fifth Ave. Massage: A smaller spa that provides a more intimate environment. I’d recommend calling a couple of months in advance to book an appointment.

10. Spen and afternoon at Thirty Eight

Thirty Eight is a new addition to Whitefish loved by tourists and locals. There are plenty of food trucks, yard games, live music and an outdoor bar to enjoy. Bring your layers if you plan on staying later in the day since it cools down a lot regardless of the month.

Shan’s tip: Bonsai Brewing is also a local favorite worth visiting. The majority of their seating is outside and family friendly. I’d recommend trying one of their famous soul bowls.

Where to Stay in Whitefish

As Whitefish continues to grow, so does the amount of accommodation options. Here are my favorite places to stay based on proximity to the downtown area:

The Lodge at Whitefish Lake: In addition to their incredible spa, the Lodge is on Whitefish Lake. They have plenty of outdoor activities such as boat rides and rentals you can explore.

Farmhouse Inn Bed and Breakfast: The B&B is just two blocks away from downtown Whitefish! A warning that the cafe is open to the public for all meals offered.

Firebrand Hotel Whitefish: This hotel truly has everything you need, to the point you don’t have to leave the hotel at all if you don’t want to. A warning that it is one of the most expensive hotels in town, plan accordingly.

Good Medicine Bed and Breakfast: The breakfast served at this B&B is unreal and worth a stay on its own. All of the rooms are uniquely designed to make you feel at home in your own lodge.
