Day 2 on Alta Via 1: Rifugio Fodara Vedla to Rifugio Scotoni – Key Highlights

Day 2 on the Alta Via 1 was one of the longer stretches in terms of mileage, but it delivered some of the most rewarding views on the trail. The hike to Rifugio Scotoni features stunning alpine lakes that provide a refreshing contrast to the more exposed sections of the route.

Trail Highlights
This stretch quickly became one of my favorites, with the trail winding through Fanes Park and passing several alpine lakes perfect for a refreshing break. The final descent to Rifugio Scotoni is steep and demanding, but the panoramic views make every step worthwhile.

Trail Traffic
This stretch saw a fair amount of trail traffic, as many hikers visit the alpine lakes or stop at the popular Rifugio Fanes for food and rest. Its proximity to the village of Sciare also makes this portion accessible for day trippers.
