Where to stay in the Faroe Islands in 2025

The Faroe Islands offer incredible scenery, food and cultural experiences. While most people will stay in the capital city, TĂłrshavn, I encourage you to stay outside of the city and experience all that the Islands have to offer.
As you start to plan your trip, feel free to use my list of recommended places to stay. There are some incredible Airbnb’s and hotels outside of TĂłrshavn that are worth considering as you plan your Scandinavian adventure!

👉 The View
If you are looking for an authentic Faroese experience, staying at The View is a guarantee to accomplishing that goal. There are options to book the house on a daily, weekly or monthly rate. The View is off the beaten path a bit, I’d recommend shopping in town to stock up on your groceries and necessities so you can be fully immersed in the environment.
👉 Giljanes Hostel
The Hostel also has campsites available in addition to standard rooms. There is a shared kitchen and airport shuttle available for an additional fee. Giljanes Hostel tends to book quickly in the summer months, be sure to book at least 3-5 months in advance.

👉 Hotel Føroyar
Hotel Føroyar is stunning and was intentionally built and designed to pay homage to the Islands. Be sure to grab a meal or two when you’re staying on property as their breakfast is EVERYTHING! I stayed on property when there was a convention in house so the breakfast line was busy, but it was worth it. 🤩

👉 Hilton Garden Inn
The Hilton Garden Inn is a great hotel right on the outskirts of downtown TĂłrshavn. They have a great restaurant on property in addition to a fun gift shop for any last minute items. They also offer shuttle service to the airport for a fee if needed. I took advantage of the shuttle service on my last day of travel.

👉 Gjaargardur Guesthouse Gjógv
The guesthouse is the only inn located in the village of GjĂłgv. The guesthouse is only open certain months of the year, as of right now it’s open April – September. Both breakfast and dinner are available when the guesthouse is open.
If you are looking for a cultural experience, definitely check out their cultural evening events. You can learn more about that event here.

👉 Hotel RunavĂk
If you want to get away from the city center, Hotel RunavĂk is a great option. It’s located right on the harbor and includes a restaurant on property.
3. Stay in a Boathouse in LeirvĂk
👉 Stay in a Boathouse in LeirvĂk
This Airbnb is a beautifully renovated boathouse located less than 30 minutes from KlaksvĂk if you need to go into town to grab something. Bonus here is the boathouse has a hot tub!
Best places to stay on Bordoy, Kalsoy, Kunoy and Vidoy Islands
👉 Stay in the Yellow House by the Sea
This Airbnb is in my top five homes I’ve ever stayed in Europe. The location is perfect and the host is fantastic. It’s also walking distance from the KlaksvĂkar ĂŤtrĂłttarfelag stadium.

👉 Feel right at home in the Cabin on Kalsoy
To my knowledge, this is the only Airbnb on the island and is booked most of the summer season. Be mindful that if you decided to stay on the island, the only way to get back into town is via the ferry,
👉 Lokk-Inn Apartments on Bordoy Island
The Lokk-Inn Apartments offer different sized spaces which also includes a kitchen. The beauty of the apartments is that they are away from the hustle of town and offer incredible views.
👉 Stay near the Mountain on Vidoy Island
This is a fully stocked house located near the Viðareiði village. If you’re looking to enjoy some peace and quiet on one of the Northern Islands, look no further!
