Top 8 Dog-Friendly Things To Do in Telluride
Telluride isn’t just one of the most beautiful mountain towns in Colorado—it’s also one of the most dog-friendly. From scenic trails to welcoming patios, here are my top dog-friendly things to do when visiting this iconic destination.
1. Hike the Jud Wiebe Trail
Get an early start to the day with this 3.5 mile loop hike right in town. The hike offers fantastic views of the mountains and main street Telluride. Parking is limited so get there early and make sure your dog is on a leash for the hike.

2. Grab a Slice at Brown Dog Pizza
A local favorite for over 20 years, Brown Dog Pizza is known for its Detroit Style and awesome gluten free pizza. They only allow certified service dogs in the restaurant but their outdoor patio is dog friendly.

3. Hike Bear Creek Falls
Bear Creek is another iconic Telluride hike—an easy-to-moderate 5-mile out-and-back trail with stunning views of the town. Parking at the trailhead can be a bit hectic, especially if you’re bringing your pup, so it’s best to arrive early. Otherwise, plan to park in town and hop on the shuttle (Galloping Goose is dog-friendly) or prepare for a longer walk in.

4. Ride the Telluride Gondola
Of course, the gondola was closed during my visit—but after chatting with locals, I can confidently say it’s a must-do (and free!) activity. Dogs are welcome, with designated cabins just for pets, making it a fun and easy adventure for you and your pup.

5. Enjoy local eats at The Butcher and The Baker
I absolutely loved this spot! The staff was amazing, the food was delicious, and I felt right at home the moment I walked in. They offer great outdoor seating along Main Street, plus a side patio with a small grassy area—perfect if your pup wants to stretch out and relax.

6. Wander in PET Telluride
The locally owned pet store is a great spot to restock on any food, treats and toys you may need for your pup. In addition to selling name-brand products, they have a great selection of Colorado made products.

7. Stock up on Fish Gear at Telluride Angler
Telluride Angler is the go-to local fly shop in town! The staff is incredibly helpful with fishing tips, and best of all—it’s dog-friendly. Don’t forget to ask them about the best spots to fish with your pup while you’re in Telluride!

8. Check out Telluride K-9 Adventure School
Need to board your dog for the day or looking for some extra training? Telluride K-9 Adventure School has been a trusted local favorite for over 20 years! They offer boarding, as well as guided day hikes—perfect if you’re planning a no-dog adventure and want your pup to have fun too.

Dog-Friendly Places to Stay in Telluride
It’s not surprising that almost every Telluride hotel is dog-friendly, with a pet fee of course. 🙂
💲💲💲 – The Hotel Telluride | $25 per night pet fee
💲💲 – The Inn at Lost Creek | $25 per night pet fee
